5. “Distance to an object”. The task is performed in the very beginning of the case-lesson.
The essence of the task: A teacher chooses any object in the classroom (table, blackboard, chair, etc.) and offers students to determine the distance to it in meters. Students write down their options. Then someone is elected for “verification”. The chosen student measures the length of the foot and walks to the object. The number of steps is multiplied by the length of the foot will give the distance to the subject.
Those students who assessed the distance as the lesser form the first team. Those who “overestimated” it form the second team.
OBJECTIVE: Turn on “fantasy”, mobilize imagination, while simultaneously dividing students into teams for the following work.
